How to Cook Brown Sugar Kolak for Family Ramadan Iftar?

 Kolak is one of delicious dessert in Ramadan. Every people know it. It is very easy to find in the food street seller during Ramadan.

Do you know moms, cooking kolak is very easy. When moms cook it by itself there are so much advantage than buy in the seller.


Moms can give the taste like what family wants because there is some people do not want to eat too much sugar in the kolak.

Beside that, it is about the filling of kolak. As we know that kolak has some variant of filling. When buy kolak, sometimes the filling is not appropriate with family taste.

By cooking itself, family member can request the filling of kolak. So, moms can buy the ingredient depends on the family request.

There are so much variant of kolak in Indonesian country. However basically, it just consist of sweet coconut cream with some filling like cassava, banana, bread, and many more.

Every place or every home in Indonesia has different taste of kolak but the basic receipt is almost same and the taste is sweet.

How to Cook Kolak?

Firstly we decide to make brown sugar kolak with some filling like banana, sweet potato, cassava, and white bread.

Moms can start to cook in the evening around three o'clock because family will eat kolak for iftar. So, it will make kolak still warm and fresh to eat. Moms can prepare ingredient in the morning like:

a. White and brown sugar

b. Coconut milk

c. Pandan

d. Banana, Sweet Potato, Cassava

Just need seven ingredient above to following the step to cook kolak below:

1. Baked or boil sweet potato and cassava after wash it.

2. Cut the sweet potato and cassava

3. Put it in the coconut milk which already take in the pan

4. Put brown and white sugar in the pan

5. Turn on the stove

6. Stir the ladle to mix the sugar

7. Cut banana

8. Put the banana into pan

9. Do not forget to put pandan, it has aromatic function

10. Try to eat just a little. If the taste is not sweet, moms can add little bit white sugar.

11. If the taste is enough, turn off the stove

12. Pour kolak in the bowl or glass, put the white bread into kolak

13. Kolak is ready to serve for family ramadan iftar
